We are recruiting an experienced Site Manager / Project Manager for a regional construction main contractor to initially work on a project at Runswick Bay in North Yorkshire. The company is a construction main contractor with an excellent reputation who have their head office in Bradford. They work on new build projects in the industrial, retail, leisure and commercial sectors across the North of England valued between £1-12 million. They are recruiting a new and experienced Site Manager for a new build hotel project in Runswick Bay which is already under construction and due for completion in 2027. The project is £11 million in value and will require a new Site Manager as No1 on site reporting into the Construction Director. This project is a passive house project and one of the first passive house hotel projects in the UK

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating and clearly directing both directly employed site staff and subcontractors.
  • Planning and programming all site activities and coordinating labour.
  • Working closely with the Contracts Manager to ensure work is progressing according to the programme with effective cost control.
  • Promptly dealing with any issues and planning corrective actions.
  • Providing regular updates, attending and leading progress meetings and subcontractor meetings.
  • Maintaining the Group’s high quality and safety standards, working closely with our in-house Health, Safety and Environmental Team.

Qualifications

  • Previous site management/project management experience is essential - ideally new build construction projects
  • You must be able to plan all aspects of construction operations and produce construction programmes. Comprehensive knowledge of construction processes and strong commercial awareness are required.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and people management skills are essential. You must be friendly and professional at all times when directly dealing with colleagues, contractors, clients, professionals and all others within the supply chain.
  • An academic qualification (HNC, HND, Degree in a construction-related subject) would be an advantage.
  • We are ideally seeking a candidate with in-date qualifications and training such as SMSTS, First Aid, Black Managers CSCS card, asbestos awareness, working at height, scaffold inspection.
  • A full driving licence is essential.
